Putin throws a spanner in the works
Volodymyr Zelenskyy has claimed that Vladimir Putin is deliberately escalating his attacks to prevent Donald Trump from resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
The billionaire is set to return to the White House in January and will have to manage the war between the two neighboring countries, which will enter its third year in February.
The Ukrainian president made these remarks after his Russian counterpart threatened to once again use Oreshnik intercontinental ballistic missiles to destroy key decision-making infrastructures in Ukraine.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also suggested that Putin’s strategy aims to pressure Donald Trump into accepting the Russian president’s terms.
Donald Trump has promised to end the conflict within 24 hours, but he has yet to present a concrete plan for achieving this goal.
"(Putin) is aiming to disrupt the efforts of President Trump that are sure to come after his inauguration. Putin wants to escalate the situation now so that President Trump fails to end the war," he said in his evening address.
