Putin promises retaliation for the use of US weapons
The Kremlin announced on Friday that it would respond to every Ukrainian attack carried out with American ATACMS missiles.
Following a new wave of strikes targeting the country’s energy infrastructure, U.S. President Joe Biden reiterated the importance of providing military support to Ukraine—a message seemingly aimed at Donald Trump, who is set to return to the White House in January.
"[Russian President Vladimir] Putin had warned that the authorization to use U.S. and other foreign-made missiles was an irresponsible and escalatory step," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
"And if these missiles are used, there will be an appropriate response every time," he added.
Midweek, Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a renewed threat to use Oreshnik intercontinental ballistic missiles, one of which was launched for the first time last week against the city of Dnipro.
The Russian leader described this initial strike as a "test," while Ukraine condemned the use of the experimental missile.
