Korea's hydrogen-powered tank of the future
The Rotem branch of the Hyundai group has presented the prototype of a future tank that is currently in preparation. The K3 runs on hydrogen to be fast and stealthy. It's also capable of operating in automated mode.
Silent, fast and maneuverable, the future K3 tank from Hyundai Rotem would be difficult to detect. Its stealth is partly linked to the use of an electric motor powered by a fuel cell. It therefore runs on hydrogen. A noiseless and smokeless engine that makes it more difficult to detect. A hybrid variant of the South Korean tank is also planned, with a thermal engine in reserve, to remain operational longer in the field. Among the other qualities touted by Hyundai Rotem, there is its great crossing capacity, its acceleration and an unmanned driving mode. It can also be guided by an accompanying drone.
