International arrest warrant for Netanyahu, Gallant and Hamas leader
The International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague has issued arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, his former defence minister Yoav Gallant and Hamas leader Mohammed Diab Ibrahim Al-Masri for suspected war crimes.
The ICC believes there is ‘sufficient evidence’ that Netanyahu and Gallant committed crimes against humanity in Gaza. These include killing civilians and using hunger as a weapon of war. Netanyahu and Galant allegedly deliberately cut off supplies of food, water, medicine, fuel and electricity.
Is Hamas leader still alive though?
In addition, an arrest warrant was also issued against Mohammed Diab Ibrahim al-Masri, also known as Mohammed Deif, for his role in the 7 October 2023 terror attacks in which civilians were massacred at the Supernova festival and residents of some kibbutz were also killed by members of Hamas' al-Qassam brigade. As many as 1,000 people were killed by Hamas that day. There is doubt, however, as to whether al-Masri is still alive.
