Did Putin just throw 'father of all bombs' on Ukraine?
An immense blast occurred in the Ukrainian town of Vovchansk. Video footage of the large-scale explosion leads to speculation that the Kremlin may well have dropped Russia's most powerful non-nuclear bomb.
Did Putin drop the ODAB-9000, also known as “the father of all bombs,” on Vovchansk? According to some Russian bloggers, he did.
The ODAB-9000 is a thermobaric or vacuum bomb that disperses and detonates a fine inflammable spray. This particularly powerful blast then sucks all the oxygen out of the air. The explosion is so much hotter than other bombs and it also causes powerful pressure waves, resulting in massive destruction.
But the Ukrainian military contradicts these reports via Telegram. “The information about the alleged use of the ODAB-9000 aerial bomb by the Russian occupation forces in Vovchansk is not true,” the Telegram channel of the Charkiv ‘operational and tactical unit’ reads. According to Ukraine, munitions of smaller weight and less power were used, the explosion of which was used by propagandists to create a “spectacular” image. After all, this vacuum bomb must have been dropped by a strategic bomber and it was not detected in the area. In addition, it also appears that the bomb falls obliquely, whereas ODAB-9000 is so heavy that it must be dropped just above the target and thus falls perpendicularly.
Putin did throw these horrific vacuum bombs at other locations in Ukraine the past 2 years.
