Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reported that Ukrainian troops stationed in the Kursk region of Russia are successfully holding back enemy assaults.

For several months now, thousands of Ukrainian soldiers have crossed the border and made inroads into the Kursk region, and the Ukrainian leader explained that the situation remains under control by his forces.

"Russia has tried to push back our positions. But we are holding the defined lines," he said.

The head of state shared this update on his Telegram account after several Russian sources revealed the previous day that a dozen localities had been recaptured in the same region.

According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), "ISW assesses that Russian forces have likely advanced in at least 13 localities in the Kursk oblast where Ukrainian forces had previously been operating since October 11."

Washington, for its part, believes that Ukrainian forces could hold this area for several months.
