Americans fear new threat from Moscow
Russia isn't ruling out the possibility of entirely severing diplomatic relations with the United States. Sergei Riabkov, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, spoke of this option in a public statement.
The current stance comes against an already tense backdrop, marked by disagreements on a range of international issues, including the situation in Ukraine, economic sanctions and nuclear safety.
Russia perceives these pressures as an attack on its sovereignty and strategic interests, increasing the risk of a diplomatic rupture.
Such a decision could have far-reaching diplomatic and economic consequences, not only for the two nations but also for global geopolitical balance.
As soon as Donald Trump was elected, Moscow announced that it would be closely monitoring the new president's actions in relation to the war in Ukraine.
Donald Trump promised to resolve the crisis quickly, but Russia reminded him that the conflict could not end “overnight”.
