Shark chokes on body remains of missing tourist
American tourist Colleen disappeared on Sept. 26 during a diving trip near Pulau Reong, a small island in Indonesia. She was a very experienced diver, but suddenly failed to surface that day on a diving excursion near Pulau Reong, which she was doing with friends and a guide.
The woman disappeared without a trace, and rescue teams did not immediately find her body. After eight days, searches were called off. After all, the conditions to continue searching had become too dangerous, and the chances of finding her body were now very slim. But an alert, local fisherman provided a breakthrough.
A fisherman happened to spot a shark at sea off neighboring East Timor on Sunday that had gotten into trouble. The fisherman suspected the animal was choking on plastic debris or a fishing net and hauled it aboard. But when the man cut open the shark, he discovered in the animal's stomach large body parts of a woman, as well as her wetsuit and swimsuit. So reports Asia Pacific Press. Everything points to the remains of the missing diver. Friends who were there on the trip confirm that it is Colleen. Her body was still quite intact and identifiable. Her fingerprints could also confirm her identity.
Presumably, the woman died from a medical problem in the water and the shark only ate her later.
