Capitol One Tower office collapses in seconds
On Sunday morning, September 7, 2024, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, the famous Capitol One Tower office tower was reduced to rubble by a controlled demolition.
For four years, the building had been abandoned after being severely damaged by hurricanes Laura and Delta in 2020. The building's owner had estimated that it would cost $167 million to restore the 22-story tower.
The owner's insurance company didn't agree to pay such an amount. In addition, the building had been underoccupied for several years. Demolition became the cheapest solution.
The implosion of the tower on September 7 cost about seven million dollars.
