18 hours of erection…because of a mosquito
A 17-year-old boy from Burkina Faso found himself in a difficult position when he entered the Yalgado Ouedraogo University Hospital (Ouagadougou).
The poor teenager had to show the medical staff his fully erect penis. The case is exceptional; he suffers from “arterial priapism”, caused by a mosquito bite. The young man was affected by dengue fever, which led to an erection that lasted for 18 hours!
The teenager remained under observation for 5 days. The doctors explained to him that he had “had a gentle, painless and persistent erection, which occurred spontaneously without any sexual stimulation, without any notion of trauma, or any triggering factor motivating the medical team to seek a urological opinion”. This is a rare phenomenon, which provoked a certain enthusiasm among the medical profession: "This case offers us a unique opportunity to deepen our understanding of the complex interactions between dengue fever and priapism, thus pushing the limits of our medical expertise."
In total, the wait was 48 hours before the detumescence of the penis (reduction in its volume) completely came to an end, indicates Demotivateur. Since then, everything seems to have returned to normal.
