If this is true, it's a very serious matter
Are the Spanish authorities taking a big risk? A testimony revealed by the Belga news agency tends to show that the number of dead and missing in Valencia is much higher.
A Belga journalist heard the testimony of a Valencia ambulance driver, who wishes to remain anonymous. He has never seen such a disaster in areas that resemble a battlefield. This first-aider evokes a death toll far higher than the 220 official deaths after the “dana” of October 29, 2024. He puts the figure at “over 1,000”. He even speaks of restrictions and threats to prevent rescue workers from speaking to the media “without prior authorization”.
More deaths
According to him, people trapped in their homes are still living next to the bodies of one or more relatives. The paramedic also told Belga that he himself had lost a friend and an ex-colleague who had just retired. If this paramedic is sincere in his testimony, and his death toll is closer to reality than officially declared, Spain could be facing a popular revolt...
What are we to make of it?
The Belgian news agency Belga is a reliable source which had to take precautions before revealing this testimony. It has been relayed by leading Belgian media. In Spain, the population is clearly complaining about the lack of anticipation. This anger has been exploited by various groups, notably the far-right Vox party, who spread fake news. Is it possible that the state really had intentionally lied to minimize the scale of the disaster and the number of victims?
