Grandparents of teen who murdered family: "Will never abandon our grandson"
A 17-year-old boy committed an atrocity last weekend after a birthday party in Paderno Dugnano, near Milan, in Northern Italy.
He informed the police himself and after several false statements, he finally confessed to his horrific act: he had stabbed his brother (12) to death, but also his father (51) and mother (48). The facts happened just a few hours after the dad's birthday had been celebrated at home. He handed out no fewer than 68 stab wounds, killing his brother and parents.
In prison he soon indicated that he would like to see his grandparents. Immediately after the facts, they said that they felt “sympathy” for their grandson. His maternal grandfather has now confirmed to the boy's lawyer that they will not drop him "despite the pain". “We will never abandon our grandson,” he told Master Amedeo Rizza.
“Despite the pain of losing his daughter and his other grandson and the fact that he cannot explain what happened, the grandfather, like the rest of the family, wants to keep in close contact,” the lawyer said.
But his family also does not understand what has inspired the young man. “They cannot explain it, but they all repeat that despite the three gruesome deaths, they will not drop him,” he continues. “They want to understand what his problems are and they want to help him.”
