Trump places Musk at head of new ministry
The “ministry for government efficiency,” that's what the ministry that newly elected President Donald Trump is creating is called. At the head of this brand-new ministry, he places two confidants who have openly supported his campaign.
Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy are tasked by Trump with dismantling the government's bureaucracy, cutting excessive regulations, cutting unnecessary spending and restructuring federal agencies.
The richest man on earth according to Forbes, Elon Musk, invested some $130 million in Trump's campaign and signed present during several of his rallies in recent months. Businessman Vivek Ramaswamy was himself a candidate in the Republican Party for the U.S. presidential election, but then joined the Trump campaign. Both business tenors are therefore now being rewarded for their loyalty.
DOGE
The new ministry will be called “Department of Government Efficiency,” or “DOGE. Their core business will be “providing outside government advice and guidance.” The new department will also “work with the White House ... to implement large-scale structural reforms.” After Musk bought up Twitter in 2022 and renamed it X, he already fired thousands of employees. According to Donald Trump, this will also make the operation of government a lot more “efficient. “This will send a shock wave through the system, and everyone who wastes government resources. And that's a lot of people!”, Musk wrote.
