Trump is suddenly surprisingly nice to Harris and Biden
Donald Trump has made his first public appearance since the thwarted assassination attempt at his golf course. The Republican presidential candidate was unusually respectful to current President Joe Biden and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
During a rally in Michigan, Trump spoke about how Biden and Harris had contacted him after the new failed assassination attempt. This time, he didn't lash out at his political opponents.
“President Biden called me yesterday. He was very nice, we had a nice conversation. I appreciate that,” Donald Trump said. “You know, in a way I wish that call had not been made, because I thought he was so nice.”
“Today I got a very nice call from Kamala,” Trump continued, to which his supporters booed Harris en masse. “But we have to get our country back. We have to win, we will make America great again.”
The White House called the phone call between the two presidential candidates a “cordial and a short conversation.” “I wanted to make sure he was OK. I told him what I’ve said publicly: There is no place for political violence in our country,” Harris told the National Association of Black Journalists. “I’m running in this election, in this race, for many reasons, one of which is to fight for a democracy. And there is no place for political violence in a democracy. We can and should have healthy debates, discussions, and disagreements, but not resort to violence to resolve those issues,” she added.
