Osama bin Laden's son thrown out of France
The eldest son of slain al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden has been deported from France and will not be allowed to return. This is because Omar bin Laden had posted messages glorifying terrorism on social media. The posts in question were ones he had posted online in 2023 on his father's birthday.
France's new Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau signed an order banning Omar Bin Laden from France as a result.
“Bin Laden, who has lived in Orne for several years as the husband of a British citizen, posted comments on his social media glorifying terrorism in 2023,” Retailleau wrote on X. ”The administrative ban ensures that bin Laden cannot return to France for any reason.”
Bin Laden's eldest son, however, denies having made such posts. He claims his account was hacked and someone posted messages in his name.
Bin Laden had been living in Normandy with his British wife since 2016, but has since left for Qatar. He is already appealing the decision to ban him from French territory.
