Gap between Trump and Harris narrowing ahead of decisive debate
According to Politico, Kamala Harris' momentum has stabilized, but not reversed. With less than two months to go until the White House election, neither candidate is pulling away.
One thing is for sure, Kamala Harris continues to gain popularity and Democratic voters are much more motivated than when President Joe Biden was the frontrunner. And yet, the race remains extremely tight.
Americans are rediscovering their Vice President Kamala Harris, but for now, the Democrat's momentum seems to have reached its limits.
On average, voters are about as likely to have a favorable opinion of Ms. Harris as an unfavorable one, but Politico notes that "that's not bad for a political figure in these polarized times."
In addition, she's generally more popular than Trump, whose average approval rating is 44%.
This Tuesday's debate between the two candidates presents more risks but also advantages for Kamala Harris.
90% of voters surveyed in a poll say that they know pretty much everything they need to know about Trump, while a smaller proportion, 71%, say they know everything they need to know about Harris. That means her numbers could go up or down depending on her performance, while Trump's are less likely to budge.
