Donald Trump stole secret documents
Donald Trump stole British documents containing "naval secrets" after leaving the White House.
In his new book, Christopher Steele, a former spy and head of MI6, revealed that the former American president took secret documents with him to his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
"I was reliably informed by impeccable sources that among the classified documents which Trump, apparently unauthorizedly, took with him to Mar-a-Lago at the end of his presidency were British naval secrets, some of the most sensitive ones in our governmental system," he wrote.
"It remains unclear to me, at least, why Trump would have wanted to retain such documents and what eventually happened to them," he added.
However, a statement from the Ministry of Defense sent to The Guardian claims that Christopher Steele’s statements are "untrue."
Christopher Steele’s latest book, Unredacted: Russia, Trump and the Fight for Democracy, was released this Tuesday, less than a month before the presidential elections.
In 2021, the billionaire’s Florida estate was searched by the FBI as part of an investigation into the illegal possession of secret documents, but the case was dismissed by Judge Aileen Cannon, who had been appointed during Donald Trump's term.
