Alicia Keys reveals who she is voting for and why
American singer and songwriter Alicia Keys joins the growing group of American superstars who are openly in favor of Kamala Harris and against Donald Trump.
The 43-year-old singer attended a rally of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris in the state of Maryland. And there she clearly expressed her support for possibly the first female president of the US. "It's crazy that many people think women can't lead just because they haven't seen enough of it," the singer said in her speech. “When our children look at the pictures of presidents on the wall in their classroom, everyone is a man. There is one black man,” said 43-year-old Keys. “No wonder it's hard for many to imagine a female president. They've never seen one, and if they can't see it, how can they believe it?”
And she also lashed out at Trump, who she believes stands for hatred.
The singer emphasized that she wants her own children to grow up in a world where they can see that leadership "has many faces". “And one of those faces is Kamala Harris,” she said. “If you don't vote for her or don't vote at all, you're voting for chaos and hate,” Keys said. In her speech, the singer did not specifically mention the name of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump once. “You are voting for a cruel future for immigrants, people of color, women, girls, our children and our planet,” she told his supporters.
