We now know how One Direction singer died
On October 16, 2024, singer Liam Payne lost his life when he fell from the third floor of a hotel in Argentina. A British inquiry was launched to establish the exact cause of his death, and its findings have now been released.
According to Dr. Roberto Victor Cohen, the former One Direction member succumbed to polytrauma. According to 20 Minutes, Liam Payne suffered several injuries, one of which was life-threatening. Prior to his fall, the singer had been under the influence of alcohol and certain drugs.
According to the investigation report released by the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office, 25 injuries were identified during the autopsy. Several of these injuries, to the chest, skull and limbs, were “consistent with a fall from a great height”.
“His cranial injuries alone were serious enough to cause death,” says the report, which adds that no defensive injuries were observed. Any third-party involvement can therefore be ruled out.
As reported by 20 Minutes, a second man suspected of supplying drugs to the British singer before his death handed himself in to Argentine police on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Five people are currently being charged by the Argentine judiciary.
