Singer dies in 2003...and a lookalike replaces her
As the star prepares to release a brand new album and is currently on tour (soon in France), a strange theory suddenly resurfaces.
The theory, or “fake news,” took shape in 2005 and quickly flooded the Internet. Six years later, it has reached an unexpected level of popularity. But what are we talking about?
It all started when a blogger posted: “Is singer Avril Lavigne dead?” A message that had no other purpose than to feed a hazy theory and make people talk about him. We don’t know if this user is really famous, but what is for certain is that he managed to make this rumor famous! According to him, Avril Lavigne ended her life in 2003. In order to continue to exploit her image, her record company called on a lookalike to replace her, reports Showbizzdaily.
Melissa Vandella is said to be the big replacement. One version claims that the young woman had been hired to replace her at certain major events well before the Canadian singer's "death" and, by doing so, relieve the pressure she had been carrying on her shoulders since her rise to fame.
What does the singer herself think about this? Avril Lavigne firmly denies this theory, and claims that it's nothing more than a ridiculous rumor. She says she is appalled by people's stupidity and gullibility.
