Episode of a popular series disappears on Netflix
There's an episode missing from the complete "Mad Men" series. Episode 3 of season 3 is not available. The reason is linked to a scene of ordinary racism from the 60s.
Netflix preferred to remove an episode of "Mad Men" from its catalog rather than explain the context. Since August 12, the platform has offered the complete series of this legendary series in the world of advertising in the 60s, imagined by Matthew Weiner. The writers have never avoided the sexism and racism of the time. However, episode 3 of season 3 seems difficult for Netflix to assume.
Deleted out of caution
One of the characters, Roger Sterling, puts on black face make-up, a blackface, to sing an anti-slavery song to make his companions laugh. An idea that does not delight some characters in the episode, in particular Don (Donald Draper). Because even 60 years ago, not everyone accepted this type of make-up. Moreover, this ordinary racism was never endorsed by the writers of "Mad Men". However, Netflix wanted to avoid controversy by "censoring" this episode.
