A new large VW SUV, with 7 seats
Tayron is the name of the new Volkswagen model that will slot in between the Tiguan and the Touareg. This SUV is intended for the European market, with a wide range of engines. And ChatGPT on board!
The Volkswagen Tayron for Europe is a distant cousin of the Chinese Tayron. The Tayron for Europe is 4.77m long. A beautiful vehicle with a trunk of 885 liters for 5 passangers. With two people when moving house, it's a cargo of 2090 l. It's also possible to dedicate part of this space to install two additional people on optional booster seats (but with still 345 l of trunk). However, the folded seats reduce the trunk by 35 l in the 5-seater configuration, or 850 l. And all this with a neat interior with screens, apparent luxury and up-to-date assistance. The optional IDA voice assistant integrates ChatGPT. Volkswagen also offers a 700-watt Harman-Kardon audio system.
Diesel
Under the hood, the Wolfsburg manufacturer doesn't skimp on choices: hybrid, gasoline and Diesel. It will start with a 1.5 eTSI gasoline with 48 V mild hybridization of 150 hp. In plug-in hybrid, the Tayron has 204 hp or 272 hp depending on the solution chosen for the 1.5 eHybrid. Their 19.7 kWh (net) battery allows an electric range of close to 100km. It's even possible to charge it on the go at a 50 kW DC fast terminal. In Diesel, the 2.0 TDI has 193 hp. All drive systems are coupled to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox (DSG), except for the 6-speed plug-in hybrid. There are also 4Motion all-wheel drive versions. They are capable of towing a 2.5-ton trailer, with the Trailer Assist manoeuvring system.
