Visiting the Greek islands of Mykonos and Santorini by cruise ship will become slightly more expensive.

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced Sunday that tourists who stop on the popular Greek islands of Mykonos and Santorini by cruise ship will have to pay a fee of 20 euros in the future. In this way, Greece wants to stop the excessive number of tourists.

“Greece does not have a structural problem of over-tourism,” the prime minister said at a press conference. “It does have a problem in certain destinations, and in certain weeks or months of the year.”
