Is there a difference between white and brown eggs?

The breed of chicken determines the colour of the eggs. The colour of the egg is determined by the breed of chicken.

For example, a chicken with white feathers and white earlobes lays white eggs. A reddish-brown chicken with red earlobes lays brown eggs. There are even special breeds of chickens that lay blue or speckled eggs.

It's therefore certainly not true, as people used to think, that white eggs only came from chickens with battery cages (which have been banned since 2012).

Are brown eggs healthier than white eggs?
The colour of the egg has no influence whatsoever on the amount of minerals, vitamins and proteins it contains.

Is there a difference in taste?
The colour of the egg plays no role in its taste. The freshness of the egg and the method of preparation can of course play a role.

Which eggs are sold the most?
Because it's wrongly perceived that white eggs are of inferior quality, brown eggs are sold the most. Only during the Easter period are more white eggs sold because they can be dyed more easily.
