Zelenskyy begs Trump for help
Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated Donald Trump on his presidential election victory, while urging him to maintain the vital aid the U.S. has provided since the start of the war.
During his campaign, the Republican candidate claimed he could swiftly bring an end to the conflict, but Kyiv expects unfavorable proposals from the White House.
Specifically, the Ukrainian government anticipates that Washington might push for Ukraine to cede territories already occupied by Russia—an option Kyiv finds unacceptable.
On the Russian side, the Kremlin remains cautious about Donald Trump’s return to the White House, noting that the U.S. plays a role in the conflict by supplying Ukraine with weapons.
The war in Ukraine has been ongoing for over two years, and Ukraine recently announced its first strike on North Korean troops.
"We have repeatedly said that the U.S. is able to contribute to the end of this conflict. Will this happen, and if so, how ... we will see after [Mr Trump’s inauguration] January," said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
