Will Putin respect the Olympic truce at the Paris Games?
Russian President Vladimir Putin has hinted that he will not respect the Olympic truce and will continue to fight in Ukraine during the Paris Olympics this summer.
"These Olympic principles, including the Olympic truce, are very correct (...) But few countries in history have respected them, with the exception of ancient Greece," Mr. Putin told Russian journalists at the end of a two-day visit to China.
Vladimir Putin further suggested that Russia is not obliged to respect the principles of the International Olympic Committee because it was excluded from the Paris Olympics because of its invasion of Ukraine.
