"We must prepare for the bloody end of the Putin era"
Former British intelligence spy Christopher Steele suggests the West should prepare for the worst-case scenario and that there could be bloodshed if Putin is removed from power.
Former MI6 spy Christopher Steele, who led the Russian intelligence service between 2006 and 2009, said the West must prepare for the end of the Putin era. Mr. Steele suggested that Russia's No. 1 could be killed by internal rebels or by a plot from outside Moscow.
This would be the worst-case scenario for the West, as it would likely lead to bloodshed.
According to the ex-agent, the most likely objective is a violent action to kill or overthrow Putin in favor of another oligarch of the regime, who has distanced himself from the war and is ready to negotiate a real end to the conflict against Ukraine and the West.
