"We are unable to bring Russia to its knees"
An increasing number of Ukrainian and U.S. military generals view Ukraine's prospects in the conflict with Russia as grim.
‘The situation is escalating and I have made that known to the US commander in Europe as well,’ Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky reported on Facebook this weekend. ‘The enemy has the numerical advantage.’
In recent days, the Russian army has been experiencing its biggest advance in the Donbas since the conflict began in 2022. According to Western media, the biggest shortcoming for Ukraine is becoming a lack of manpower and its outdated artillery, despite the support it receives from Western countries. Moreover, the Ukrainian army is increasingly facing desertion.
On top of that, time is also running out for Ukraine: it can count on President Biden's support for a few more weeks. It looks like President Donald Trump's America will come up with much less money. Ukraine's fate will then depend much more on Europe. ‘Let the Polish, German, British and French militaries do it,’ an insider from Trump's team told to British newspaper The Telegraph.
