Ukrainian prisoners tortured by Russian doctors
This was revealed on Monday by a Commission of Inquiry of the Human Rights Council.
The Commission was created with the aim of investigating human rights violations in Ukraine since the beginning of its invasion by Russia in 2022. In newspaper Le Monde, we can read that the Commission had already reported a “systematic use” of torture by Russian forces. This Monday, it specifies that “torture was used as a common and acceptable practice by the Russian authorities, with a feeling of impunity”.
In the prison camps and detention centers under Russian control, the Commission also notes “the absence of any adequate medical aid for those who desperately needed it”, in addition to torture and rape. It was noted that doctors even participated in the torture sessions in one of the centers.
