Ukrainian POWs are raped in Russian camps

A UN report officially released on Tuesday shows that Ukrainian POWs are being systematically mistreated and tortured in Russian camps.

In addition, 93 Ukrainian prisoners of war are said to have already been executed by the Russians. Eye-catching images circulated on Telegram in recent weeks showing 16 Ukrainian soldiers who had surrendered near Pokrovsk in Donetsk being lined up by Russian soldiers and then shot. Those who initially survived were then shot again. And a new UN report now shows that things are also particularly cruel in Russian prison camps: abuse, torture and rape happen systematically and with the knowledge or order of superiors. A lot of prisoners are sick, but receive no medical attention. Soldiers are beaten, tortured, almost strangled, given electroshocks and subjected to mock executions.
War crime

Ukraine's prosecutor general has already opened an investigation into the circumstances. He would currently already have evidence regarding the execution of 93 prisoners of war at the front. Last week's 16 shown in the Telegram video are not yet in that figure. If the report is correct, this is the largest liquidation since the war began. Executing POWs is a war crime.
