Ukrainian drones ravage Moscow
Ukraine launched an unprecedented wave of drones over Moscow, prompting Russia to respond with a major airstrike on Sunday.
Three Moscow airports were temporarily closed, and flights scheduled to land in the capital had to be rerouted as air defense systems intercepted 70 Ukrainian drones, half of which were shot down over the Russian capital.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ General Staff reported that an ammunition depot near the city of Bryansk was destroyed.
Over the weekend, Moscow retaliated with a wave of 145 drones, marking the largest offensive since the conflict began. The port city of Odessa sustained damage, although Ukrainian forces managed to destroy 62 of the incoming drones.
In recent months, Ukraine has improved its drone capabilities to strike military infrastructure directly within Russia, as Kyiv remains unable to use Western-supplied weapons on Russian soil.
At the same time, Russia is attempting to reclaim territories still under Ukrainian control in the Kursk region.
