"This is an additional threat to Ukraine"
The deployment of North Korean troops in the Russia-Ukraine conflict requires "a firm response," US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, said Wednesday after a meeting in Brussels with NATO chief, Mark Rutte.
"We had a meeting on support for Ukraine ... and this new element, North Korean troops being injected into the battle, and almost literally into the fight, requires and will have a firm response," he said.
NATO warned the United States on Wednesday of the global effects of the war in Ukraine after it was confirmed that North Korean troops have begun engaging in combat operations with Russian armed forces against Ukrainian forces in Russia's Kursk region.
Pyongyang's action poses an "additional threat" to Ukraine, NATO chief Mark Rutte said, also warning that the episode poses a threat to the United States, Japan and South Korea, as Moscow provides technology and missiles to North Korea in exchange for military support.
