"The rules of the game of war have changed"
Hungarian leader, Viktor Orban, says Trump's victory should help 'move from war to peace' in Ukraine.
Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, urged his European peers on Friday to recognise that Donald Trump's victory in the US changes the rules of the war between Russia and Ukraine, and called for a "move from war to peace".
"The situation on the front line is clear, there's a military defeat" of Ukraine, Orban said in a radio interview, coinciding with the EU summit in Budapest.
Trump said during his campaign that he could end the conflict in 24 hours, and Orban said the Republican politician was "a man who hates war", creating a "new situation" in Europe because it calls US' support for Kiev into question.
Mr Orban is a long-time ally of Mr Trump and Putin, unlike EU leaders, he advocates a ceasefire in Ukraine, freezing the situation on the ground.
