'Targeted' response following rocking attack
Just hours after Hezbollah's rocket attack from southern Lebanon, Israel responded with a "targeted" strike on Beirut.
An Israeli army spokeswoman told AFP that 140 rockets (and not sixty as previously reported) ultimately hit Israeli territory, targeting military bases. They were fired from southern Lebanon at midday on Friday, September 20, 2024. In the afternoon, Israel bombed the southern suburbs of Beirut, a known Hezbollah stronghold. The target is reportedly Ibrahim Aqil, a senior Hezbollah figure, in retaliation or as part of a pre-plan for the rocket attacks?
War inevitable?
These shots and bombings show that the danger of imminent conflict is palpable in the region. Especially since Iran, Hezbollah’s ally, could be tempted to respond, because it has already promised a “crushing respons"...
