Slovakia is fuming
Slovakia has condemned the U.S. decision to allow Ukrainian soldiers to deploy American long-range missiles directly on Russian territory.
Prime Minister Robert Fico argued that this move—though not officially confirmed by the White House—would only "disrupt and delay" peace talks amid the ongoing conflict between the neighboring countries.
"This is an unprecedented escalation of tension," he said.
Robert Fico also disclosed that he instructed his ministers not to follow U.S. directives on the matter.
"Those who want to see the war in Ukraine continue are harming national and state interests," he added.
Since taking office in 2023, the Slovak leader has repeatedly criticized Western support for Ukraine. He has also vowed that Ukraine will not join NATO as long as he remains in power.
However, Robert Fico has not opposed Ukraine’s potential membership in the European Union in the near future.
