Russians hack Belgian websites
A cyberattack has affected online services of Belgian municipalities, as well as government websites. The attack was claimed by a pro-Russian collective.
The Russian and pro-Russian hacker collective NoName057 massively attacked Belgian government and official websites on Monday 7 October 2024. Several cities and provinces were hit by DDoS (Distributed Denial-of-Service) attacks on their websites, bombarding them with requests. This overload blocked certain websites and online services.

The Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium (CCB) has confirmed that the origin of the hack was pro-Russian and expects to have to deal with further blocking attempts, especially since the collective had announced that it wanted to attack Belgium. The website of the Belgian House of Representatives was also reportedly targeted.
