Russian fighter plane provokes U.S. F-16 over Alaska
The US military has shared striking footage showing a Russian Su-35 pilot flying his aircraft dangerously close to a US F-16 in the skies near Alaska.
The U.S. Army is unapologetic about the dangerous Russian maneuver in Alaska's Air Defense Identification Zone (Adiz). The Russian fighter aircraft whizzed by just a few feet from the U.S. F-16.
“The behavior of one Russian Su-35 pilot was unsafe, unprofessional and put everyone at risk - not what you would expect from a professional air force,” U.S. Air Force General Gregory Guillot said in a statement on X. He said the U.S. aircraft flew according to a ‘safe routine’ to intercept the Russian fighter. That happened since the Russian fighter plane had not identified itself in Alaska's Adiz zone.
