Russia wants to wipe Ukraine off the map: biggest airstrike ever?
Ukraine was hit Sunday morning by “one of the biggest” airstrikes ever by Russia. So says Andrii Sybiha, Ukraine's foreign minister. Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky talks about an attack involving 120 missiles and 90 drones.
“Russia launched one of its biggest airstrikes: drones and missiles against peaceful cities, sleeping civilians and energy infrastructure,” Sybiha said.
Women killed with drones
The Russian military focused on several targets in Ukraine Sunday morning with dozens of cruise missiles and ballistic missiles.
Several explosions caused by the air defense system were heard in the Ukrainian capital Kiev, among other places. Among them, two apartment buildings where families and civilians lived caught fire. The Russians also fired missiles, including with the help of strategic bombers, at Zaporizhzhya, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih and Odessa. Dozens of Russian combat drones were also deployed. In the city of Mikolajiv, in the south of the country, two women were killed in drone attacks, authorities said. Four adults and two children were also injured, Governor Vitaly Kim said on Telegram.
Freezing Ukraine to death: making their life impossible
The Russians are also targeting power plants in Ukraine. Ukraine's largest private energy company reported in a statement Sunday morning that the attacks have caused “significant damage” to its cogeneration plants. According to DTEK, this was already the eighth large-scale attack on its energy facilities this year. It has already been targeted more than 190 times since the beginning of the large-scale Russian invasion in February 2022, DTEK further reported.
