"Russia can only be forced into peace"
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has stated to the United Nations Security Council that the war between Russia and Ukraine cannot be resolved through talks alone: Moscow must be forced into peace.
Zelenskiy stressed that the war will not end through war weariness or negotiations involving territorial concessions to Russia. Zelenskiy criticised Russian President Vladimir Putin for violating international laws and argued that Russia, as the sole aggressor, must be forced to peace.
The Ukrainian president also condemned North Korea and Iran for supplying arms to Russia, calling them accomplices. Zelenskiy is seeking Western support for his ‘victory plan’ to end the conflict.
The outcome of the upcoming US elections may change US policy towards the conflict between Russia and Ukraine: it is uncertain that Ukraine will still be able to count on the important military and financial support from the States.
