Putin suffers another huge blow in Ukraine
Major General Pavel Klimenko, 47, became Russia's eighth general lost in Ukraine. He was reportedly targeted by Ukrainian drones while riding his motorcycle near the city of Krasnohorivka, according to local media.
The officer was inspecting checkpoints and observation posts when he and his group were attacked by drones. Pavel Klimenko, who sustained head injuries, was taken to the hospital but later succumbed to his wounds.
He was leading troops in the Donetsk region, which has been under Russian control since the invasion launched by Vladimir Putin in February 2022.
Pavel Klimenko had been promoted to the rank of major general by Vladimir Putin just six months prior.
According to reports, Pavel Klimenko is the eighth general confirmed killed in the conflict. However, Japanese intelligence estimates the actual number to be as high as 20.
