Putin sees red: His fleet in pieces in the Black Sea
The Magura, a Ukrainian maritime drone, has definitely changed the game and altered the course of the war. Considered a scourge by the Russian army, this cutting-edge weapon has managed to break the Russian blockade of the Black Sea. Could Ukraine be shaking up the power balance?
All the Magura V5s deployed during the conflict have destroyed or damaged around thirty Russian ships and submarines, including missile boats and large landing ships, the cost of which is estimated at several billion dollars, reports Korii. A third of the Russian fleet in the Black Sea has therefore been put out of action. Result? The Russian navy has been forced to withdraw from the Ukrainian coast. According to the American daily Time, this is "the largest naval battle that Europe has seen since the Second World War".
Clearly, Kiev is not limiting itself to advancing on land. On a maritime level, it represents a real threat to enemy naval bases and ports, as well as to the oil tankers used by Moscow for exports, Korii specifies. The chief of staff of the Ukrainian presidency, Andriy Yermak, declares: “The Russians only understand the language of force. They will not stop the war if they don't feel the danger of continuing to fight us.”
Ukraine is becoming dangerous, leading to a reversal of the power balance. One can easily imagine Vladimir Putin’s anger at this increasingly striking observation.
