Putin’s soldiers arrived in the UK
Vladimir Putin has brought the threat closer to the United Kingdom by sending a Russian warship into the English Channel shortly after British Prime Minister Keir Starmer vowed to "counter" Russian aggression.
The Russian frigate conducted a series of exercises before being escorted by a Royal Navy vessel through British territorial waters.
The Admiral Golovko, part of the Russian fleet based in the north of the country, is capable of carrying hypersonic missiles.
The Russian vessel left its base in Severomorsk, in the Arctic, 11 days ago, passing through the Barents Sea and the Norwegian Sea.
Russia’s defense ministry TV channel, Zvezda, confirmed the exercises, which included anti-submarine and anti-aircraft defense operations.
The HMS Iron Duke was dispatched to escort the Russian warship out of British territorial waters. Russia’s defense ministry stated that the Golovko was "maintaining a naval presence in key areas."
"The combat crews of the frigate's main command centre trained to disperse dangerous targets in the difficult conditions of intensive shipping in the strait," Russia's Defence ministry said.
