Putin prepares his nuclear weapons
Vladimir Putin has ordered a simulated nuclear conflict exercise involving the launch of dozens of missiles capable of delivering a devastating strike.
These exercises spanned across Russia, with Yars intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome in the west, as well as from the Kura base in the east.
Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov explained that this full-scale test was intended to demonstrate how Russia could initiate "a massive nuclear strike by strategic offensive forces in response to an enemy nuclear strike."
Sineva and Bulava ballistic missiles were launched from submarines stationed in the Barents Sea and the Sea of Okhotsk.
Nuclear-powered submarines, a Yars intercontinental ballistic missile system, and two Tu-95MS bombers took part in Russia’s strategic nuclear deterrence exercises, according to Russian Chief of General Staff Valery Gerasimov.
"Comrade Supreme Commander-in-Chief, the training involves a strategic missile-carrying submarine from the Pacific Fleet, the Yars road-mobile strategic missile system, a strategic missile-carrying submarine from the Northern Fleet, and two Tu-95MS strategic bombers," Valery Gerasimov said.
The head of state emphasized the importance of keeping these strategic forces "in a constant state of combat readiness."
