Putin prepares brutal attacks
Russia is preparing a large-scale offensive in the Kursk region, amassing at least 50,000 troops, including North Korean soldiers, to regain full control of the area.
According to The New York Times, which cited Ukrainian sources, Russia is concentrating significant forces to retake this border region, parts of which have remained under Ukrainian control since a surprise attack by Kyiv last summer.
U.S. officials report that Moscow has moved some troops stationed in Ukraine to redeploy them in the Kursk region.
Kyiv anticipates an imminent attack in this area and is preparing to confront North Korean troops recently sent by Kim Jong Un.
Washington believes that the combined Russian and North Korean forces will struggle to push Ukrainian troops out of the region and are likely to suffer heavy losses in the upcoming offensives.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, North Korea has sent 12,000 soldiers to Russia for future deployment on the Ukrainian front.
Last week, Kyiv reported that it had, for the first time, bombarded North Korean troops.
