Putin ignores peace diplomacy
Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, said Thursday that "Russia ignores diplomacy" at a meeting in Rome where he presented his peace plan to Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni.
Meloni called on Moscow to sit down to negotiate and be "credible".
"Russia ignores diplomacy. It's important that everyone cooperates to achieve a just peace," Zelensky said at a joint press conference with Meloni, after a nearly two-hour meeting at the government headquarters.
Zelensky will have an audience with Pope Francis at the Vatican today to explain Ukraine's "victory plan", which includes a request for an immediate invitation to join NATO.
He thanked Meloni for "what Italy is doing" as the rotating president of the G7. And Zelensky concluded: "Defense systems help us save lives".
