Putin eyes four more countries to attack
Vladimir Putin may decide to invade four European countries once he wins the war in Ukraine, an expert told the Daily Express.
As the conflict between Russia and Ukraine drags into its third year, the Russian leader reportedly has ambitions to restore the Russian Empire, with several additional targets in mind.
Defense and security expert Nicholas Drummond explained to the British media outlet that the Baltic states—Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia—as well as Moldova, are on Vladimir Putin’s radar.
However, no sudden attacks are expected, as the ongoing war in Ukraine has inflicted significant material and human losses over the past two years.
He said: "Putin is a dangerous guy, a very dangerous guy and he wants Russia to be a superpower again. I don't think he will go for the Baltic states, but he could do. There are NATO troops in the Baltics so that would immediately spark an Article 5 event. This would dramatically escalate things."
"Moldova, he might try something there. He may also decide to do something in Africa, seizing territory there or something like that," he added.
Recently, Moldova re-elected Maia Sandu as president for a second term, after she defeated a Kremlin-backed challenger. Sandu aims to steer Moldova away from Moscow’s influence, and the Moldovan people have also voted in favor of pursuing future membership in the European Union.
