Putin changes tone
While Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, had declared that the Russian president wouldn't react to Donald Trump's victory, Vladimir Putin now seems keen to get back in touch.
The United States is still “a hostile country directly and indirectly involved in a war against our state”, Dmitri Peskov declared... Which didn't stop the head of the Kremlin from congratulating Trump on his victory and throwing him a few flowers in the process, saying that he had been very brave during his assassination attempt. “He behaved in a very dignified and courageous way, like a man,” stressed the Russian president, who would like to “[resume] contact and discussions”.
While the Republican businessman had made the end of the conflict in Ukraine a strong argument of his campaign, this subject should, as a matter of priority, be put on the table during their next meeting.
