North Korea signs new pact

North Korea has pledged to support Russia until it secures victory in the war in Ukraine, as the conflict between the two neighboring nations extends beyond two years.

Earlier this week, Choe Son Hui, North Korea's Foreign Minister, traveled to Moscow, where she met with her Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, to discuss the alliance.

"Our traditional, historically friendly relations, which have travelled the tested path of history, today ... are rising to a new level of relations of invincible military comradeship," she told Sergei Lavrov.

This support from North Korea comes after the United States disclosed that at least 10,000 North Korean soldiers have been sent to Russia, with 8,000 stationed in the Russian region of Kursk, where Ukrainian forces still maintain control in certain areas.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has since said that these North Korean soldiers are now considered legitimate targets.

The presence of North Korean troops in Russia was also confirmed by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
