North Korea provokes neighbors with missile salvo
North Korea has fired several short-range ballistic missiles into the Sea of Japan in a new show of military might.
The launches came from north of Pyongyang and were sent in a northeasterly direction, and the missiles traveled about 400 kilometers, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement, which did not provide further details on the projectiles' impact point.
It's part of the North's propaganda campaign after it unveiled its nuclear fuel enrichment facilities last week.
Japan's Defense Ministry also echoed the North's latest test, saying the missile landed in waters outside Japan's exclusive economic zone, with no reports of damage to Japanese ships.
South Korea said the launches were "a clear act of provocation that threatens peace and security on the Korean Peninsula," adding that it would continue to analyze the North's movements.
