No ‘red lines’ : France will not give up on Ukraine
France has no intention of establishing "red lines" in its support for Ukraine, according to Jean-Noël Barrot, the French Minister of Foreign Affairs.
In an interview with the BBC, the minister indicated that Ukraine could use French long-range missiles to strike targets on Russian soil, citing the "logic of self-defense."
"The principle has been set... our messages to President Zelensky have been well received," he said.
This statement comes as the United States and the United Kingdom have officially authorized Ukraine to use their long-range missiles against Russian forces.
When asked about the potential deployment of ground troops, Jean-Noël Barrot did not rule out the possibility.
"We do not discard any option. We will support Ukraine as intensely and as long as necessary. Why? Because it is our security that is at stake. Each time the Russian army progresses by one square kilometre, the threat gets one square kilometre closer to Europe," he said.
French President Emmanuel Macron has previously hinted at the use of French weaponry against Russian forces, though he has not officially confirmed it.
